Geeky Pickup Line of the Day!

If I were an enzyme, I would be DNA helicase ,

so I could unzip your genes.

These enzymes that you capture are actually quite breathtaking! They all seem to resemble blooms of some sort or another.

~smells the enzymes~

One must wonder how it is that Mr. enzyme goes about unzipping another's genes...

I don't know, but he's looking like a cross dresser to me. You think..?

DNA Helicase is the enzyme that actually separates the two strands of DNA from each other in the cell, so that the DNA can either be replicated (prior to cell division) or transcribed (converted from DNA to RNA, so that protein can be synthesized from our genes). When DNA is in its normal helix is makes what are called "Hydrogen Bonds" (for all you non-chemistry oriented readers) with its opposite strand. Hydrogen bonds are a force between molecules that hold them close together, such as water.

Our genes our actually only present on one strand or the other, and in order for our genes to be read they must be separated temporarily, kind of like unzipping a zipper. Without DNA helicase we would all die! What's even cooler is that just about every species has DNA helicase from E. Coli to Homo Sapiens.

Ewww, E. Col..? Suddenly Mr. enzyme doesn't look all that attractive..

Thanks for unzipping that for me, I actually understood it. After I looked up all the big words of course. For ex: from, be, zip, water and several others..

Just teasing is all..It tis my nature to be a goofball..thank you for taking the time to explain.
